The Idea Box

Some of the best memories I have are from my time at XinCheJian, China’s first hackerspace.

In particular, this bottomless “idea box” 想法箱, strategically mounted on top of the trash can. Every person that came into the hackerspace and offered ideas without intention to realize them (“You know what you should make?!”) was encouraged to write their idea up and put it into the Idea Box. This more than once resulted in the person being seriously upset about their idea not being considered The Next Best Thing™.

Ideas are many. Execution is everything.
